ANPEI brings together boaters with a passion for navigation and river tourism, as well as all lovers of water, nature and the vast river heritage that surrounds us.
Our association, under the law of 1901, was founded in 1985 in the heart of Brittany, and has since expanded nationally.
As the only national association representing pleasure boaters, ANPEI is recognized as a privileged contact by VNF, government departments, the Ministry, etc.

To better meet the needs of its members and the boating community as a whole, ANPEI is currently organized into eight regions.
In each region, a Regional Delegation is made up of a team who try to answer your questions as effectively as possible, but who also bring the region to life by organizing exchanges with members, group cruises, outings, etc., meetings marked by conviviality and fruitful exchanges.
This team works locally with waterway managers.
ANPEI is a big family of sailors. The conviviality of shared moments makes these meetings special occasions. It's an opportunity to exchange ideas, have a good time, mark certain events, etc. It's a way of forging links and staying in touch, helping to improve the quality of life on the water. It's also a way of leaning on others in the event of a problem.
ANPEI serves as an information and distribution channel for river-related information transmitted by waterway managers, other boaters, etc. A way of keeping abreast of what's happening on the waterway.
ANPEI uses its resources to make representations to waterway managers, political leaders, the Ministry, wetted municipalities, etc., in defense of the French river network, and in particular the Freycinet and smaller gauges. ANPEI is a fervent defender of the waterways, and takes part in numerous meetings to make the voice of its members, and of boaters in general, heard.
If you'd like to share your passion, take part in group cruises, boat gatherings, various activities and member meetings in your region. It's a great way to make new friends.

If you encounter a problem on the waterway during navigation, such as insufficient mooring or an ice jam that immobilizes you, don't hesitate to ask our volunteers to help you, if your requests are unsuccessful with the waterway manager.
At a time of climate change and budget restrictions, it is more necessary than ever to get involved at all levels of decision-making to defend the navigability of the river network.
The fact is that the state is withdrawing from the small-gauge sector, and not all regions are taking over.
To avoid the closure of certain routes, ANPEI :

ANPEI is in contact with several national and regional political bodies to fight to maintain and regenerate all north-south and east-west links on several routes, so as to keep these links open as long as possible throughout the year.
With the EBA (European Boating Association), our actions have a European dimension.
ANPEI is currently campaigning for the restoration of waterways to their original construction level, i.e. an increase of +/- 50cm:
In recent years, we have witnessed a decline in freight activity on the Freycinet network, and its ever-accelerating deterioration, which is why we are calling on the public authorities to take a salutary step towards restoring the honor of the river network and all the activities it supports.
For our association, freight and tourism are linked. One cannot go without the other. Freight can do without tourism, but not vice versa.
The purpose of our association is "to promote river tourism and the waterways, and to protect, conserve and restore navigable areas".
It's a long-term project that's far from over!
We need to work with all the different players involved in the waterways, and listen to everyone, in order to develop river tourism, ports and marinas, but above all to keep our waterways open for navigation.
